Marco Evaristti was born in Santiago, Chile. He lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark and Bangkok, Thailand. He holds a master's degree in architecture from the Danish Royal Academy
where he was a student of the world renowned architect Henning Larsen.
In his installations, Evaristti uses a unique choice of materials often
taken directly from nature.
In 2004 Evaristti travelled to Greenland armed with red food colouring with the intention of establishing a provisional Pink State by painting an iceberg in Ilulissat Ice Fjord.
In the small town of Hovden in Norway, on a skiing holiday, he had fallen in love with a 70m high and 40m wide
frozen waterfall. One month later he had painted the waterfall red! The
action infuriated the mayor. He had not been asked for permission, for
as Evaristti says “Nature belongs to all of us”.
