Gerbera Daisy Fasciation

Fasciated stems are produced due to abnormal activity in the growing tip of the plant.  Often an abnormal number of flowers are produced on affected stems. Normal branches may arise from fasciated stems.

Albino Eyes

A common myth is that people with albinism have red eyes. In fact there are different types of albinism and the amount of pigment in the eyes varies. Although some individuals with albinism have reddish or violet eyes, most have blue eyes. Some have hazel or brown eyes. However, all forms of albinism are associated with vision problems.

Fire Aftermath: Carcass Hangs from a Tree

It has been six years now since the massive Griffith Park fire. In 2007, in a very short period of time, the blaze ripped through Los Angeles' beloved outdoor space, charring 800 acres. After the fire settled, photographer Colin Brown took a walk with his dog and photographed what he saw. The images are haunting, sad and unexpected. One of Colin's most recognized photos of the blaze is below — a deer, hanging by its antlers from the branch of a tree.
