Abandoned Spreepark, Berlin

Spreepark, formerly Kulturpark Plänterwald, opened in 1969 as a roughly 73-acre entertainment park in what was then East Germany. At the time, it was the only park of its kind in either East or West Berlin. The park offered a towering ferris wheel (at roughly 148 feet) and numerous rides, all of which were paid per trip by visitors. The park has been abandoned since 2001, however, when the owners reportedly left for Lima, Peru.

Interesting Russian Tombstones

After the collapse of the Soviet Union, eccentric headstones with realistic, fanciful images began to appear in Russian cemeteries. These graves are not only a tribute to a memory and an expression of grief, but are also a declaration of financial independence of those who died and their living relatives.

Shark Eggs

An egg case or egg capsule, colloquially known as a 'mermaid's purse' or 'devil's purse', is a casing that surrounds the fertilized eggs of some sharks. They are among the common objects which are washed up by the sea. The egg cases that wash up on beaches are usually empty, the young fish having already hatched out. The size of egg cases vary; That excludes the four long tendrils found in each corner, which assist in anchorage. The colors and shapes of egg cases also vary greatly from species to species.
